Weekend

This weekend was quite full, as they alway seem to be, and thoroughly enjoyed by all.  A bike ride and trip to the park were planned by Hannah and Lily for Saturday but first was a trip to the farmer's market to stock up on some groceries for the week.  We went with peaches and strawberries particularly on our mind because jam making was top on the weekend agenda.  We came home with oh so much more...corn for chowder, tomatoes and red candy onions for a salad, beef for dinner later in the week, oh and I can't forget that the peaches were also used for a peach and apple salsa that was so good on top of a black bean burrito.

The strawberries smelled so good when we got home that we had to immediately have a taste.  They were candy sweet and I was not sure we were ever going to stop Lily, who typically refuses store bought strawberries, from eating them.

Sunday was pretty rainy so when we saw a break in the clouds we took umbrellas outside to check on the garden.  The girls saw this as an opportunity to play in the puddles that were all around.  Both had a little doll in their hand and before I knew it the dolls were stripped of their clothes, Hannah and Lily's shoes were off and they were all playing in the "watering hole" as Hannah described it.  Thankfully I had taken my camera outside with me to take a few pictures of the garden. I had so much fun watching their giant imaginations at work as they played.

As I am writing this post I am realizing that days like these are exactly why I love summer.  Wishing you a great start to your week!
